Magic
Witches, Warlocks, Necromancers, dark knights and paladins. All of these individuals and more share one common trait; magic. But exactly where did their magic come from, and how did they master such a mysterious and diverse force? This article will touch this subject with a more in depth and detailed explanation on how the magic of the lost nation works.
Learning magic and mastering spells: It's one thing to learn how to sense and channel mana, manipulating mana into a spell, even at its base arcane form, is another thing entirely. Often times, new spellcasters will have a mentor or family member teach them how to cast spells of their chosen element. But if the element that they are pursuing is one of foreign or lost origin, Ancient tomes and scrolls hold secrets of the spells of old, and show the proper method to both cast perfected spells, and create new ones. One such spell, however, has had its knowledge in casting erased from history. That spell is the very same one that casted the island continent from the human world, and into their separate realm. Only one Mage knows the spell, the one who cast it. She has made it a point to defend that knowledge with all of her being, to ensure that the residents of this realm stay safe from the fear and prejudice of the human world. Understanding mana and the 6 elements within: This article touches on how mana works, both in its base arcane form, and the 6 individual elements that reside within it. This article also touches upon how spellcasters who have one or no affinity are able to cast spells of elements not natural to them.
Mana stones: While it's fairly simple to cast a spell based on the environment, that resource is limited in extended battles. Alchemists and sorcerers have discovered a mineral that naturally stores excess mana within that can be used to cast spells without using the mana of the surrounding environment as a power source. These stones are single use only per spell, but can be recharged after a day of dormancy. The caster must have physical contact with the stone, in order to channel it into a spell. Take special care to protect these stones, as any damage will disrupt the flow of mana in and out of the stone. The mana stored within will be less potent, or even useless within a cracked or broken stone.
