Personal information and social status
Name: Lance Devereaux
Race: Half-Elf (Formerly Thought to be Human)
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Appearance: Lance is a young man with a slender build, topping out at five feet six inches tall. Lance has blonde hair measuring out at roughly four inches long, usually kept spiked up so it stays out of his eyes. Lance has a fair skin-tone and green eyes, which have a distinctive "spark" in them, particularly when he's in the mood to mess with someone. Lance's face is somewhat angular in appearance, with a well defined chin and cheekbones. As far as distinguishing marks go, Lance possesses a small scar over his left eyelid, approximately half an inch long.
Personality: Lance has been called many things, and almost all of them cannot be repeated in civilized company. He has an independent streak a mile long, and will oftentimes irritate people who try to order him around simply out of spite. Lance is also known for his inability to take things seriously, seeing life as one big game to be played, this often puts him at odds with individuals who are driven by duty or honor, as Lance simply doesn't care about those kinds of things. Indeed, Lance could easily be described as a goofball or a slacker at a glance.
However, despite his easygoing and lazy personality, Lance is incredibly dedicated to helping people who are unable to help themselves, dropping everything to assist someone in need. Lance is also an accomplished pilot, and incredibly quick to adapt and learn new things, this trait has served him well in the past, and will do so now more than ever. At the end of the day, Lance is a man who's main mission is to simply live life to the fullest and have fun doing so, and if he happens to help some people out in the process, then that's even better.
Home Realm: Outsider
Affiliation: United States Air Force (Former), himself
Alignment: Chaotic Good
History: Lance Devereaux was born in Southern California to Mary and Lambert Devereaux. Lance's parents married young, and when he was born his mother was only 20 years old. Life was hard for Lance at first, his parents had to juggle taking care of him with work, and, in his father's case, Medical School. Lambert Devereaux had managed to obtain a scholarship to UC Davis Medical school in Sacramento, leaving Lance's mother Mary to take care of him for the majority of the time. This created tension at times, but in the end it was worth it when Lambert Devereaux obtained a Masters Degree in Human Genetics.
As Lance grew, his family became more and more wealthy, Lambert had discovered a variety of new methods for gene recombination, leading to various new types of medications and vaccines. Despite the family's new found wealth, Lance's parents were still very worldly, and Lance was enrolled in public schooling instead of private academies.
Lance quickly proved to be equal parts star pupil and class clown, grasping new topics rather quickly, but not acting as if his studies were important. He still turned in homework and did the assignments, but his behavior led to many detentions and parent-teacher conferences over the years.
Lance eventually graduated from High-School with above average marks, and decided to enroll in the Air Force, saying that he had "Always wanted to see what it was like to shoot through the air at Mach 2." Lance's experiences in Basic were far more trying than in his school-days, with his antics nearly getting him a dishonorable discharge on one occasion. But, eventually, Lance learned to control his more immature behavior (and to cover his tracks really well when he did act up.) and graduated from basic training.
Lance has since been the pilot of an F-16 "Fighting Falcon", and has flown two tours overseas. Lance is currently slated to test the latest in the USAF's fighter program, the F-35 Lightning II, over the Bermuda Triangle in a war-games exercise to test the plane's maneuverability.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how one looks at things) Lance's exercise was anything but successful, His plane was disabled by a powerful EMP, and both he and the fighter were sucked into the land of Terra Mystica. Lance managed to safely eject from the plane, but found himself trapped in an unfamiliar world, with his friends and family thinking him dead.
Lance wasn't alone for long thankfully, meeting Arin Delas, his fiancee Luna, and his mother Aria in the hamlet of wheat town, where he helped in retrieving a young woman's coin purse from a pickpocket, gained a suit of armor, a pair of daggers and a sword, and assisted a homeless girl and her friends in finding a home, while also assisting in toppling Wheat Town's corrupt Mayor...not bad for his first day.
Lance's bizzare and "exciting" life in the new world would only become more bizzare, nearly being killed by a young girl's summon, discovering that he was of royal blood, his party gaining a new member in the form a human-dragon hybrid, and discovering a plot to tip the entire continent into a bloody war while battling an assassin who attempted to kill King Aldari of the Fire Kingdom...again, not bad for a newbie.
Lance is currently traveling with his friends in an attempt to assist Arin in discovering his heritage, though he has his own plans for the group, hoping to travel to the Wind Kingdom and prove his own royal bloodline. And while the future may be uncertain for Lance, one thing is clear...things will only get weirder from here on.
Combat potential
Weapons: Survival Knife: Lance is equipped with a standard issue USAF survival knife, to be used in the event of a pilot bailout, it can be used as a tool as well as a weapon. The knife is approximately 10 inches long, with a 7 inch blade, and deals a low amount of damage per strike.
Armor: Flight Suit: Lance's only form of protection from the elements is his flight suit, it provides little protection from weapons, but it is fire resistant and insulated to trap body heat in the event that a pilot is trapped in a cold area, making it somewhat effective against fire and ice magic. If only long enough for Lance to run away and get to safety.
Enchanted weapons/accessories: Wind Amulet: Lance's medallion is in actuality a magical amulet, passed down through the Wind Kingdom's royal family. It's exact purpose is unknown, but what is known is that it is capable of opening many hidden secrets in the wind kingdom, as well as channeling Wind Mana through it.
Weaknesses: Personality: Lance's personality can grate other individuals, especially those who are authority figures and expect him to do as they ask without question.
Amateur Mage: Lance has just begun to grasp the depth of his magical abilities, as a result, any spells he casts are less effective than their "true form" would be, due to Lance's inability to channel the proper amount of power required.
Magical potential
Special/Racial Abilities: Parkour: Lance has trained in Parkour since the age of 16, and is incredibly proficient at it, this makes him very good at outrunning a heavily armored opponent, especially in an cites, ruins, or forests, where there are many opportunities for him to take advantage of these skills.
Quick Learner: Lance possesses a keen ability to adapt and learn from either observation or practice, this makes it much easier for him to learn things like how to use a sword or stave effectively, or how to read a language if he has someone to translate the first couple of times.
Magical Affinity: Wind
Spells Known (11/55sP):
Blessing of the Four Winds - Divine Grace(3sP): Lance is able to shape the wind around him as a sort of cloak, this cloak of wind moves with him, making him faster and capable of leaping higher and farther. It does not enhance his reaction time however, nor does it make him stronger in terms of physical might.
Wind Blast(3sP): Lance has recently learned how to contain a ball of magically charged wind within his hands, this blast isn't particularly damaging, but it possesses enough force to knock a heavily armored foe off balance, leaving them open to an attack with Lance's blades or other spells.
Original Technique - Holy Sandstorm(5sP): Lance has always had a talent for making up insane ideas on the fly, and this demonstration of the Airman's complete and utter lack of subtlety is a perfect example. Holy Sandstorm is a powerful technique, a pair of cyclones that blast the target with what is almost a solid wall of high pressure air, the cyclones also pick up a massive amount of debris, stones, wood, metal...anything that can be sucked into the tunnel of negative pressure between the cyclones is going to be blasted at whatever gets in their way. This spell is far too powerful for an experienced spell caster, and as such, Lance takes a moderate amount of damage from simply USING the spell, attempting to use it more than once in a short span is liable to kill him.
