Twilight

A lost style of magic, rarely used or known by the world. Twilight magic is a complex combination of both light and darkness; two of the 6 elements that are so closely linked that allows for such a unison. Good and evil, yin and yang, twilight magic is about balance between two polar opposites within the soul. Only mages who have spent years mastering both light and darkness magic, or the royal family of the twilight kingdom, who naturally have a rare affinity towards the two conflicting elements, are able to wield both light and dark magic equally.

To master twilight magic, one must either be naturally aligned towards it, or train in both light and darkness magics separately, then master fusing the two elements together. After mastering the element, a mage will have the perks of both elements, as well as a protection from spiritual threats, such as possession and the ability to sense hidden spirits.

Due to twilight magic's complex composition, it has an odd fusion of both light and dark auras, producing a glowing silver aura that envelops the body in a smokey veil. Physically moving ones body while engulfed in this aura will leave a silver smoke trail following inches behind the body as one moves around. The more mana that is channeled at one given time, the thicker the aura becomes and the more distorted the mage's movements will become due to the afterimages of the aura.

The drawback to those who naturally have this power, is that they must keep the two elements in balance with one another. For if that balance is disturbed, and one is not attuned enough to controlling that element, catastrophic events could result from the imbalance. Thus, it is crucial that those who have this elemental affinity train in controlling this balance the moment they discover it, and then focus on trying to control each element individually. To this day, only one has managed to master all 3 types of light and darkness linked magics; the very first Twilight kingdom's ruler.

Since twilight magic is a combination of light and darkness magic, spells that can be used by both elements, or share a similar trait to a spell of the opposite element, are wieldable in Twilight magic form. Any spell that can be used in Twilight form will be specially marked as such in their descriptions.
