Back when all five kingdoms were just being formed, five master mages, each a master of a separate element, combined their powers to form the five relics with special mana stones encased within the relics. They first start out as crystalline spheres, but once the destined owner finally claims the relic, they magically attach to their body as a form of an accessory to be worn. These relics, now believed to be mere rumors, lay in the catacombs of each of the five kingdoms, some found in a specific place in the kingdom, some below the castle itself.
Many treasure hunters have set out to find these relics, but none have come back, adding more mystery to the rumors and believed to be cursed. This, in fact, is partly true; the relics can only be safely held by those of royal blood. Anyone who tries to claim this item from the alter it rests in will suffer the ultimate punishment of that element:
>Fire: The thief's body will be engulfed in an unquenchable flame, and will be reduced to ashes at the foot of the alter.
>Ice: The thief will be encased in a sheet of ice, frozen alive. until finally shattering into many pieces.
>Wind: The theif will all the oxygen in the body (lungs and bloodstream) sucked out of them, and the thief is suffocated to death. The oxygen being forcibly removed from the body essentially mummifies them in the process, leaving them as withered and lifeless husks.
>Earth: The thief will be turned to stone, then fall apart, becoming nothing more than rubble at the altar.
>Twilight: This punishment is more spiritual than physical: Upon touching the relic, the thief's soul is expelled from the body, leaving the lifeless body to rot away. The cursed soul will be trapped within an illusion of the consciousness, believing that they have achieved their goal. But only the thief is in this state of existence, and there is no one for them to share the tale or prove that the thief had succeeded. The feeling of being unable to share the story of this supposed accomplishment will grow and grow until they go mad from this isolated world. Descendants of the Twilight kingdom and those in touch with the spirit world are able to sense the lost souls of those who foolishly tried to steal this relic.
For better or for worse; these relics are able to augment the powers of the owner, reducing mana consumption of spells by half, and can create a total of five weapons, three of which are similar in style for all five; the remaining two are exclusive to the respective element.
