The Rider's Pact
There are many beasts of legend that roam the lands, seas, and skies of Terra Mystica, many of which are infused with magical power. If a warrior is able to best one of these creatures in combat, or win their favor in different ways (each creature has different requirements to win them over), the warrior will be granted the chance to perform a rider's pact.
When performing a pact with a creature, the ritual must be made under the light of the red moon eclipse, held every 3 months during the full moon's 2nd day. The warrior and creature must exchange blood, infused with mana, and it can only be done through physical contact (the rider must place his bleeding hand onto the wound of the creature performing the pact ritual with the rider). The combination of blood and mana will complete the pact, linking the two mentally and physically until death, or if either rider of creature choose to break the pact's magical link. Mental links include sharing thoughts, or having private conversations from any lengths, and physical links include sensations such as pain from an injury, but does not inflict wounds from one pact member to the other.
When sharing a rider's pact with a creature, the rider will share all of the power and properties of the creature that the pact has been made with. Such as lifespans (if longer than the rider's), magical proficiency (if the creature the pact has been made with is magically proficient, then the rider will be considered the same, if not already), and one of the creature's spells (monstrous spells are excluded from this, as the damage of casting it could be lethal to both the creature and the rider). However, this also plays the opposite as well, as the pact carries on until death. Should either the rider or his pact beast perish unexpectedly, both rider and beast will perish together.
This pact can be performed with any manner of sentient creature capable of rational thought, but once one has been made, another cannot be done by either within the pact until the current one is broken.
