Merfolk
There are several types of Merfolk that live in the sea. Here, we will discuss the more popularly known Merfolk; Mermaids:
Mermaids/Mermen
A sea creature that lives in their own villages beneath the sea. They have air breathing lungs, and can go onto land, but they must take care not to dry out. Typically depicted with a dolphin-like lower body, they can transform their lower body to that of a human's while on land, so as to traverse between bodies of water and underwater civilizations. However, it is dangerous for them to do so, as they must stay near a body of water to stay hydrated, and live in moist climates (this transformation is the result of long term cross breeding with humans).
They are fond of song, and often practice singing on beaches and similar locations. Some merfolk have a special property to their voice as they sing, carrying a magical charm. When a human hears it, they will feel dizzy and will follow the song back to its source. Mermaids tend to be hopeless romantics, and are prone to falling in love with the man they meet in this way. These mermaids are publicly known as sirens.
A mermaid or merman's blood has the power to rapidly extend one's lifespan. When in a relationship with someone with a shorter lifespan as their own, they will give this blood to the ones they love. Sadly, many humans and monsters covet this power and have been known to hunt the merpeople for it.
