Mystical Animals
These creatures are like any other animal, similar to the animals of the human world. the only difference between the two, is that some of these animals can talk! They are all unique species, having different habitats, behaviors, and diets, depending on what animal they are. However, if provoked, or left to starve for a long period of time, they will revert to a feral state, and act on the instincts that they were born with until their instincts have been sated. The best way to identify a Mystical animal from a regular one is the unseen magical aura that their body emits naturally, but this is only easily done by anyone skilled in detecting magical auras.
Appearance wise, they are no different than an ordinary animal, so people are often taken by surprise when one speaks to them. They are capable of civilized behavior, and some are even open to living among the humans, doing tasks that no human or other bipedal creature could do themselves...For a price of course, mainly food and shelter. They don't have much use for money, and can't carry it with their paws (monkeys and animals with opposable digits may be exceptions however).
To sum it all up, these special types of animals are intelligent, sociable, and selective about what their instincts tell them to do. They are often mistaken for the non-magical ones, who rely on instinct and don't talk. If you come across one of these during travel between villages and settlements, it's wise to ask them to be your guide, especially if they offer to give you safe passage through the area.
